Post Hemachandra [The Ekta Republic]
Colonial Group: Hemachandra [The Ekta Republic]

“ Freedom through Faith, Freedom through Wisdom, Freedom through Loyalty”

STRUCTURE:
Formerly Semi-democratic Nepotistic Theocratic Oligarchy (Political Parties formed by
Wealthy Royal families) [The Ekta Republic]

Present Organization:
Mainly disorganized, though some organization lies within Einheit itself. Some nomads from the
old military wander the nightlands, but they remain thousands of miles away in another
hemisphere.

LANGUAGES: A number of languages were spoken in Hemachandra, Anglic being the most prevalent at
the time of its fall. Some old tribal languages were also around, along with remnants of the
old Hemani dialect.

AGENDA:
Formerly to spread influence of the Faith system, work with allies to defend the borders
of the Feline Coalition, and to free Felines from other colonies who suppressed them.
Presently, to maintain the royal bloodlines, though some have taken it upon themselves to do
more and actively bring Einheit to the ground

GEOGRAPHY:
A large colony consisting of nearly 75 Million, (about 1 million of whom belonged to
royal lineage). It was spread across 7 Provinces,(Suchita [A flat region generally dominated by
food production plants],  Giridhar [A region of high mountains], Ela [A region between Giridhar
and Suchita of foothills also known for food production], Lona [A region once claimed to be the
cradle of heaven for it’ s beauty and relevance to Hemachandran religion, though after the sun
went black, a region of glaciers and massive limestone mountains and valleys that all
threatened to swallow anyone who dared traverse them on foot.], Ravi [A region of cities and
wealth, the second wealthiest province], Suchita [Home to the main focus of military training
and military production], And Dhanesh [The region of most wealth, home to the Capitol city of
Nirupama and most of the royal families]

MEMBERS:
Hemachandra consisted mainly of felines, though it accepted most races into it’ s belief
system. It had hostilities with reptilian and canine colonies, and any species that was not
feline was considered lesser in their system of law and religion. (A caste system). Currently
the few surviving royalty and the military still claim allegiance with some scattered civilian
support from the destroyed colony. Most non-feline citizens who survived Boreas do not claim to
be Hemachandran, or have denounced their allegiance.

BACKGROUND:

Early History:
Hemachandra was founded by the prophet Hridayesh nearly 8,000 years ago. The exact date
is debated, however, though most place it before Fimbulvetr began. The colony went through many
years of feudal periods, a few failed republics involving parts of the current colony, and
periods of peace. Its borders have extended and contracted over those years from the small,
western capitol city of Nirupama, a city founded shortly after Fimbulvetr began.

A constant in Hemachandra was the general belief in the religion started by Hridayesh
known as Prabhat. Feline supremacy was held in Hemachandra due to and was justified by Prabhat
for its entire history via the caste system where felines sat on top of the structure. (Though
even within Feline ranks, the system divided again between the larger cats and smaller ones,
the larger having been the most supreme. The white tigers consist of most of the Royal Caste.)

Hemachandra was one of the leaders in military technology as well for thousands of years
(from 4500 BECE - 2100 BECE), which allowed them to acquire vast amounts of land. This period
was known in the inner part of the colony as the Paramjeet era, one lead by the old Nirmal
Republic. Hemachandran borders spread to the modern day’s extent, however, Paramjeet did not
sustain under what became a heavily corrupted republic.

In 900 BECE, Hemachandra fell into a dark period for nearly 300 years, one of feudal
battles and fierce wars between the royal families. They suffered as well from outside
invasions from other colonies. Technological advances were nearly halted by paranoid kings who
murdered the great thinkers of the time, and so, Hemachandran supremacy in the world also
declined.

The Evolution of the Ekta Republic:

In the year 547 BECE, A great council was called together. This was to be known as the
First Ekta. The council consisted of the king of each separate nation within Hemachandra, and
this unification brought about the end to war in 545BECE. Since then, The First Ekta evolved
into the Ekta Republic of Hemachandra, the governing body which saw the end of the nation
during Operation Boreas. This period, the final era of Hemachandra, is known as the Ekta era.
It was a period of great economic growth, military strength, and technological advances. It was
also a period where Hemachandra joined with the Feline Coalition for military, and trade
purposes.

In Hemachandra, hybrids were considered abominations, and thus, anyone found breeding
between the races, and any subsequent children were killed. It was deemed by the state, and the
religious leaders, that crossing the boundary of species was to spit on the faces of the gods
themselves. The founding of Einheit city thusly insulted the Hemachandran government and
religious system severely. The Hemachandran government was one of the first colonies to declare
war on Einheit, and any sympathizers, or rebels, were publicly executed in horrifically
gruesome manners that could last days. Not even the lowest laboring group within Hemachandra
(consisting mainly of reptiles) was ever punished in the way rebels and sympathizers were.
Near the end of the war, Hemachandra was plagued by rebellion. Over the century leading
to Boreas, small reptilian groups had formed coalitions and fought sporadically for
independence and personal freedom. The very thought of Einheit city and Frey’s idealistic,
united society brought nearly half of the reptilian populous out from the woodwork to fight.
This hindered the Ekta Republic’ s efforts to destroy Einheit. Though it was strong to the end,
Hemachandra, given another 50 years, probably would have collapsed into another period of
feudalism.

THEOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY:

Religion:

As mentioned above, the main, overriding religion of Hemachandran people is Prabhat.
(It is most similar to Hinduism for comparison). This religion guides what is known as a caste
system. This system states that certain species are better than others due to what happened in
previous lives. If one was an exceptional person, they were allowed to be feline, though living
a bad life brought one into races like the reptiles. The basic system, from groups with the
least power and generally speaking the greatest impoverishment, to the royal families is as
follows:
Reptilians/ Amphibians < Avians < Canines/other furred animals < small felines < Most Big Cats
< Tigers < White Tigers
Generally, the quality of life was exponentially better for each class. Reptilians and
amphibians were vastly unemployed, used for jobs no one would do, whereas on the other side of
things, the White Tigers ruled all, were rolling in their wealth, and were considered closest
to heaven.
The prophet of Prabhat, the one who began it all, was a White Tiger named Hridayesh. He lived
during the time of sunlight, and is responsible for founding the nation. His writings have been
handed down through the millennia, however, they have been modified many times, mainly to
support Feline supremacy.

The caste System in action:

Most citizens were treated well, save for the lowest two classes. Canines were still
grunt labor, though they were not looked on as something to be necessarily despised. The
canines of Hemachandra were eventually allowed to serve in the military as well, though very
few ever attained any rank of significance.

The Government:

The Governing system was an Oligarchic, Theocratic, and Nepotistic Democracy among the
Felines (the royalty and the subjects below them.) Candidates were presented every 7 years by
the royal families of White Tigers, and all Felines within Hemachandra were all given the right
to vote in these elections. Bribery, assassinations, and small feuds were not uncommon during
these elections. In the end, only a Royal would be elected. No candidates from lower castes
were ever allowed in these elections.

SYMBOLISM:

The flag of Hemachandra is a vertical rectangle. At the top, on the left are two
circles, one smaller, and one large, nestled in a sea of white which stripes the top 1/5th of
the banner. The larger one has a blue star, the symbol of heaven, in it, the black circle
representing the dead sun. The smaller circle to the bottom right of the larger represents the
planet, bathed in darkness.
There are seven white stripes that cut through a black field at the bottom of the banner, for
the seven provinces of Hemachandra. The blackness represents the world in which Hemachandra
cuts a path with light and religion.

Military honors are all simple, save for the highest one could ever hope to attain.  The most
prestigious award is always given posthumously, that of Suchir. Suchir is a medal consisting of
the blue star of Heaven hung from a small band of white attached to a silver bar at the top. It
is usually awarded for saving the life of another by sacrificing one’s own body, though it is
also bestowed on those who save hundreds of lives.

MILITARY:

Aeronautical Navy:
The Hemachandran military’s strongest branch was the Aeronautical Navy. Hemachandra
specialized in light, durable, and maneuverable short strike fighters which would launch from
massive carrier ships that often were very thin in vertical dimension, though they were quite
long, heavily armed, and wide in the horizontal dimension. Their longest cruisers were nearly a
kilometer in length, the most famous being the great ship Sujit. Sujit, a 1.5 Kilometer long
ship, was an air-strike carrier and a large-scale bomber which had the capability of wiping
small cities off the map. The ship met its fate on its way to bomb Einheit with a fleet of
nearly 100 ships. It was destroyed by a rebel saboteur mission coupled with a Ministry air
force strike. The defeat of the airship Sujit and its fleet marked the end of Air supremacy for
Hemachandra. It is rumored that a few very small sky-ship fleets survived Boreas, but no
Hemachandran ship has been seen near Einheit since the destruction of the colony.

Army:
The foot army of Hemachandra consisted of soldiers from the entire nation’s populace of
men and women aged 17-22 who did not opt to be placed in the air division. It was a massive
army that numbered in the tens of millions. Hemachandra relied on their numbers more than their
weapons on the ground, and many battles that they did fight on foot were marred by massive
causalities. Half of the army was nearly impossible to mobilize and stayed in their respective
cities during most of the war. Many of them were re-instated as advanced police forces within
the colonial cities to maintain order and to put down rebellion.
