"Please tell me that's a poor attempt at humour. Why would the Ministry lie to us?!"
Player: Andreus
Character Name: Yane
Age: 23
Sex: Male
Species: Wolf/Capybara Hybrid
Height & Weight: 5'11", 150 lbs.
Social Status: UniClass
Physical Description:
Short and unassuming, Yane possesses a broad snout, large ears, mottled brown-grey fur, slight webbing between his fingers and a stubby tail. He tends to make a slight, snuffling or whistling sound when he talks due to the odd way that his mouth and nose are arranged. He is physically unintimdating, no matter how much he tries to exercise - a fact that causes him some resentment.
Background:
Ironically, many people think, given his fervent support of Unity, that he was originally a purebred of some description who was made into an obsessive model citizen via wetwiring. No such thing happened, and he'd probably get incredibly angry if you suggested it. He's actually a great example of how well Unity indoctrination works if you start young - he was born to Outer Class citizens and picked up by the Ministry at the age of three.
He barely remembers his parents and doesn't have any idea who they were, and doesn't much care, although he naively believes that the Ministry wouldn't let them come to harm. In actuality they were executed by the Ministry for not turning him over sooner, and it was in fact done right in front of his eyes, something he doesn't actually remember. It is unlikely that he would care very much even if he did - and even then, it would probably only be an expression of mild disgust that he was the product of two people who were so clearly unable to uphold basic laws.
His UniClass record is spotless and would be exemplary if it wasn't so unremarkable. He has worked his current programming job for well over four years now, and has absolutely no intention of stopping, short of something drastic happening. The only concession to interest that his record holds at all would be the six-shot medium-caliber revolver he keeps in a secure safe in his home, which he bought on the off chance he might need to go into the MidCity for some reason.
In a fitting analogy for Yane's life in general, the gun has been fired exactly twelve times, all of the dozen shots at a Ministry-approved weapons testing range, to ensure that the gun was still functional. It has never once been drawn or fired in anger, as Yane has not been outside the Toride in nearly twenty years.
Personality:
Quiet and reserved in most situations, the only way to get him to show any emotion of interest is either to complement the Unity, which will inspire effusive agreement and praise, or to criticise it, which will inspire impassioned vexation and long rants and lectures on Uni-Juche, neo-songan, Mara Kadesh, the value of Unity, the superiority of the Uniclass, the importance of the Ministry and a plethora of other subjects (always presented in a pro-Unity light, of course), even if they are clearly unrelated to the topic of conversation.
Yane has nothing but polite disdain for the Outer Class and purebreeds. His total disregard for their safety, happiness or lives might seem callous or malicious, but he holds them no specific ill will - he simply, honestly believes that they'd be much better off just being hybrids, and is absolutely unable to understand why there'd be any reason people aren't queuing twice around the block for them (of course, in some cases, they probably are, and are stuck on a waiting list, but he neither fully understands this, nor does he particularly care). In his opinion, joining the UniClass is the obvious choice, and that the only two reasons people don't take it is because they're traitors or they're stupid.
Weapons/Equipment:
Revolver - Carried only on the incredibly rare instances in which he has cause to leave the Toride. Kept in a locked safe in his apartment the rest of the time, with an authorised copy of the possession permit taped to the side of it.
