Age: 32

Sex: Female

Species: Leaf nosed Bat/Eland, Harpy Eagle/Clouded Snow leapord hybrid

Height/Weight: 5'6" 145 lb

Social Status: UniClass

Physical Description: U'tsami Uma is a sight to behold... Her wide Ice blue eyes cast a piercing gaze. Surrounded by Smoke grey-blue plumage and a set of wide leathery ears, her face tapers into a soft muzzle, crowned with a leaf like nose. Sprouting from her head is a set of long twisted eland horns; they arc behind her gracefully, and are tipped with silver filigree fittings.

Her long slender arms seem to be sleeved in leathery wings draped with brilliantly striped feathers. From the wrist of the wings her fingertips sprout, however, the wings are not adornment, but her own flesh and bone. Behind her trails a voluptuous, mottled tail of fur and feather, nearly as long as she is tall.

She dresses prosperously, and is occasionally seen wearing silks of White and Blue. Yet, when she ventures out into the city on business, she dresses sharp but much more formally, Preferring business suits and the like over dresses and silk when out and about. Her attire for her forays into the Nightlands is altogether different, thick wool and heavy leather gear is strapped and laced onto her body, firmly covering all but her eyes, which hide behind a complicated mask. The mask she wears upon her face filters the air and contains a self-sustained heater, protecting her lungs from the freezing temperatures. It also functions as her vision in the Nightlands, having night vision, bio sonar, sonar, and thermal capabilities.

Background: U'tsami is the daughter of O'kabo Uma, A Bat/Eland Hybrid, and Aemi Matsu, a Harpy eagle/Clouded Snow Leopard.

They were one of the first fully hybrid families in Enheit, and her father was an integral cog in the mechanism that was the original hybrid ministry, set up and merged with the HMC after the assassination of Dr. Avram Frey. She was seven at the time.

War became a part of her life after that. O'kabo, having joined the ministry, carried his family through the politics smoothly. U'tsami grew up with the changing and unusual transformation of Enheit into what it has now become. They moved into Toride as advised, and she attended a well to do school that managed to flourish despite the chaos surrounding the city.

A true hybrid child, nearly indistinguishable in her features as any particular race, she was well loved by the ministry, and often would follow the casual guard around Toride laughing and flirting with the young new recruits.

At 22, the colonial missile struck Enheit, Killing her Mother while she was out. No one knows why Aemi was wandering that day, she had told no one where she had gone. Her mangled body was recovered from a sector of the undercity that had collapsed in on itself under the impact. It was rationalized that she had simply been shopping for something particular that was not carried in Toride. "Mother always needed that particular spice for her cooking..." U'tsami would comment when the subject came up in the press.

Her father had become a General by that time and participated in the bombing of the lands around enheit, leading one of the largest air strikes in the southerly and Westerly directions.

He returned shaken, and does not speak of that time. However, he is a friendly and proud man, and continues his life in Toride as a respected War veteran. U'tsami lives in a grand and beautiful home with her Father in Toride to this day.

Now 32, She has become a skilled and educated Mutative biologist, spending much time studying and collecting samples from the Nightlands on brave and dangerous scientific expeditions, in an effort to understand the survival of life in the wasteland, to speculate on what caused such mutations in the wildlife, learn about the biodiversity surrounding them and give explanation and understanding to the monsters that lie there. A futile cause, many say. "But it is a cause" She is always heard to reply.

Personality: A strong and scientific woman, always seeking answers, always asking questions, having little fear in the face of knowledge.

Weapons/Equipment:

Solarsonic concussive gun
Legality: UniClass with Scientific Research License only.
Availability, Price range: N/A

A personal invention of U’tsami, with her father’s assistance, The SCG is a heavy weapon designed specifically to battle the Nightlands wildlife with little to no permanent damage inflicted. Upon Firing, an incredibly bright burst of light is accompanied by a massive, concussive, subsonic shockwave. The blast renders most of the wildlife stunned, and or paralyzed for a short time. Firing the light only is also an option, used to stave off and drive away the nightland wildlife in survival situations.

Even though the weapon is designed to be non lethal on large to giant animals, fired upon another person, it has the capabilities to rupture organs, cause concussive brain damage, impair vision, and even potentially kill if used at short range.

The weapon was lawfully registered with the Ministry and Thus, the Ministry issued a special case Scientific Research License/Permit to carry the SCG.

Strobe grenades
Legality: UniClass with Scientific Research License only.
Availability, Price range: N/A

Another invention of U’tsami, hand constructed in order to aid her in her research of the Nightlands. They are registered and lawful to carry with Scientific Research License.

These grenades do not actually explode. When detonated, they release a visual cacophony of high intensity strobe-like light for up to five minuets. Used to frighten, distract, disable, and stun Wildlife, they are hand-launched devices or can be set on a timer. Again, without proper eye protection, these devices will impair vision and can cause permanent damage unless properly cared for.

Gear:

Biosonic whistle

The Whistle is a small device that mimics the biosonics that much of the nightlands wildlife uses to communicate. U’tsami has been studying the potential for intelligence through communication with the device, as well as documenting simple calls. By reproducing these calls and using the device as a tool to influence the behavior of the wildlife through, summoning, distraction, dispelation, and even confrontation, U’tsami hopes that safer passage through the nightlands without use of force may be reached through understanding.

Nightlands Mask

U’tsami’s father commissioned this one of a kind mask from a ministry armor and life systems specialist. It is very well crafted, having a self sustained PE (personal environment) control system to regulate temperature, humidity, and monitor and filter the components in the air being breathed. It also functions as her vision in the Nightlands, having night vision, bio sonar, sonar, and thermal capabilities. The outside of the mask is heavily armored, however, what is so unique about the mask is not only the function, but also the craftsmanship and look of the mask itself.

The visage of the mask is an artistic rendering of U’tsami’s own face. However the features have been exaggerated and drawn in at a sharp angle, rendering her appearance almost gargoyle-like. It bestows a dark, beautiful, and frightening façade.

Grav-Scoutship “Lola”

“Lola” Is a restored scoutship from the species wars. Small, but powerful, she has been equipped with an SC (Solarsonic concussion) device comparable to the weapon that U’tsami carries. Armored with light but sturdy reinforcements, and with capacity to hold gear, space for a field laboratory, and equipment; the quick moving vehicle is perfect for exploratory missions into the Nightlands.

Oegopodyne

The Oegopodyne is a small open cockpit land/ low altitude aircraft that U’tsami has been building and re-engineering for her work in the Nightlands. It has been an ongoing, original project influenced by Architect technology found in blueprints that were recovered when Enheit was discovered. Its main body is relative in size to a large grav-bike, however, its shape and mode of movement is quite unique.

The body of the craft is wide set and almost organic in design, with two short but sleek angular wings built on either side of the cockpit and a set of rudders underneath. Mounted below and behind the body is a set of powerful, silenced, anti-grav turbines that allow for lift and the main propulsion.

Trailing in front of the craft is three long mechanical “tentacles” with incredibly powerful but compact propulsion engines mounted on the ends of each. These are multidirectional, being able to give pull to the body of the craft much like a chariot with steeds. They are the main steering mechanism, paired with the rudder system on the body, enabling incredible maneuverability, barrel rolls, and tightly executed turns.

The armored hull of the craft is a piece of artwork; U’tsami has worked many a long, long night in the design room to orchestrate its construction. Heavily inspired by the architect’s designs but updated and modified with a variety of modern technological influences, its form is what lends the sleek organic look to the vehicle.

One of the most intriguing features is the pattern of bioluminescent lights that runs along its dorsal line on either side. These are small chambers of bioluminescent bacteria that can be activated by an electrical charge to glow and pulse in patterns and sequences. This is another experimental project based off of the patterns and communication methods that U’tsami has been studying among the Nightlands wildlife.

The Oegopodyne is powered by e-fluid, another trait that harkens to the architect technology. A liquid battery is located within the craft, and when hooked up to the cities e-fluid system, its own miniature circulatory system is effectively drained of all depleted fluid to be recycled and replenished with fresh power from the cities veins. The engine and components of the craft work with extreme efficiency, utilizing the charged e-fluid at nearly half the standard rate, giving the Oegopodyne a long lasting store of energy before it is depleted and needs to be recharged.
