Species/Race: Giant Anteater/Peacock

Height & Weight: 5'9, 135 lbs

Physical Description:
A late bloomer, Tom is still rather short and scrawny with a definite air of adolescence - the gangly lad currently barely grown into his large talon-like paws and head. In body he is definitely an anteater, with a long snout and stubby ears; though his feet are clearly avian and his 'fur' is downy feathering of shimmering, pale blue with green undertones. His tail is the most remarkable thing about him - as tall as he is, the shaggy thing is as brilliant and striking as a peacock's impressive plume. His small, round eyes are a pale, watery red - almost pink in appearance. He's got a little scruff of blue head-feathering that tends to hang down a bit into his eyes.

When not on duty, Tom wears clothing typical of Toride youths his age - with the addition of round spectacles, as he has not had the nerve to attempt cyborg visual correction. On duty he wears a uniform typical of a Ministry Cadet, his helmet's goggles compensating for his poor eyesight automatically.

Background:
The son of famed Species War hero Col. Thomas Hobbs, he was born less than a month before the Colonel was captured and killed in the notorious Kyryn Tow operation. It was a widely broadcasted death, bringing many sympathizers and reporters to the small Toride home; his mother had no chance to grieve, forced instead to put on brave faces for the camera. But when the cameras and sycophants were gone - as what happened all-too-often - her sadness turned towards Tom.

She fussed over him, often taking him to the doctor for imaginary ailments or at the slightest little sneeze. As time grew on - and as Tom became more independent - his mother only grew worse. She would often go into histronics if he scraped his knee or attempted to do anything by himself. His schooldays were particularly harsh for him; overweight and shy, with an overprotective - and purebred - mother, he was a natural target for teasing.

It seemed that Tom was destined to live his life with his jealous and begrieved mother, but in a move of desperate - and rare - independence, the youth enrolled himself into the Ministry. There was little anyone could do to stop him, and his mother was hospitalized after she attempted to steal him back out of the recruit barracks.

It was a struggle; painfully shy, and still overweight, the stresses of Cadet training wore on him more than his more able classmates - and there was his father's legacy to live up to. However, a year later, he has completed his training and received his assignment. He serves now with unquestioned, though quiet, authority.

Personality:
Tom is not a big speaker, nor is he very keen on large crowds - preferring instead the company of one or two individuals who prefer comradely silence to constant talking. He tends to latch on to those who are friendly to him, avoiding those who are more argumentative or snappish. Fortunately, he seems to take his mother's actions with him with quiet acceptance - far from the 'Momma's boy' that some claim him to be.

Though gangly and awkward in appearance, Tom still manages to proudly carry the air of authority that seems inherit to all Ministers - though he still has some training left to do. He adheres to the creed and laws of Unity, but sees the Ministry more as tenders than soldiers - they are there to protect and guide, to gently show the Outer Class the errors of their ways.

Weapons/Equipment:

* Tesla Nightstick and Pistol (off duty)

* Standard Lower Ministry equipment when on-duty
