"I don't care what anyone says -- denying who you are is the worst crime of all."
Player: Kiniel
Character Name: Kiniel Iosola
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Species: Cat
Height & Weight: 5'7" 125lbs
Social Status: Outer Class
Physical Description:
As far as purebreads go in Einheit City, Kiniel is a pretty healthy-looking cat. Though somewhat small in stature and typically unremarkable in appearance, his athletic build suggests that he could probably hold his own in a fight, and the notable scar on his left cheek indicates that he likely has in the past. His fur would be a golden-brown color, except all the dirt and filth that is necessarily accumulated in outer class life resigns him to a dull shade of brown. He'd probably be handsome if he were able to eat right and bathe regularly.
The sort of impression he makes varies greatly depending on his mood. If it's a good day (i.e. if he was able to acquire some food for the day without having to do anything too illegal), then he'll manage to wear a soft smile and walk with an air of confidence. On those other days, though, he'll regard the world with an icy glare from his dark, purple eyes, giving you the impression that you should only provoke him if you want claw marks on your face.
His outfit is fairly typically for a young outer classer strugging to get by, mostly what he can find, scavenge, steal, and repair. His normal getup consists of patched up pants, mismatched boots, and a patchwork shirt that isn't exactly vogue but is enough to keep him warm. Additionally, he is rarely seen without his brown, animal hide vest, which he inherited from his father.
Background:
Kiniel's mother died giving birth to him and his father was killed seven years ago, when he was 9, when he stepped being able to pay for his drug habit. From that point until he was 14, Kiniel was brought up by his older sister, Ceana.
The two got along as best they could. Ceana was fortunate enough to find somewhat steady work serving customers at a bar and Kiniel took whatever odd jobs he could find. Most of the time, these jobs were perfectly legitimate -- heavy lifting, running errands, playing delivery boy -- although sometimes work was hard to come by, and certain people would pay good money to a boy who would deliver a suspicious package without asking questions or who could swipe something from a store shelf without being noticed.
Ceana was never happy to see her brother getting involved with illegal activities, but occasionally it was just a fact of life in the MidCity, and there was no denying that it helped. Even so, Kiniel was always warned that, no matter how desperate things might get, he should never deal with an Underlord, considering where that led their father.
In short, they eked out a life for themselves. It wasn't perfect, but they were alive and they had each other. But it couldn't last forever. Everything changed on December 20, 29 ECE, the day the bombs dropped.
In the weeks after the 20th, Ceana became increasingly paranoid that the attacks on the Colonies were just the first step in the Ministry's plan to rid the world of purebreads altogether. She quickly decided that the only way to protect herself and her brother would be to somehow become UniClass, and she was determined to find a way in. Kiniel was afraid of this new side of his sister, but he wasn't sure what to do. One day, he woke up to find his sister vanished, and just a simple letter:
"Kiniel,
I've left to find some way to become UniClass. I'm sorry for not bringing you with me, but this is the best way to make sure you're safe. Once I manage it, I'll come back for you, and we'll never have to worry about where our next meal will come from ever again!
Stay safe. I love you.
--Ceana"
From that point forward, Kiniel was forced to make a life for himself, and that meant doing some of the less savory taks he had avoided before. Although he hated it, Kiniel became a fairly skilled thief, but all the while he resisted the temptation to get involved with any of the Underlords, no matter how well their work might pay.
When Ceana didn't return after a year, it became obvious to him that something had happened to her, and he was forced to accept the possibility that she, too, was dead. Even so, he keeps an ear out for any word about her. To this day, he has to force himself not to hate the UniClass and the Ministry for what happened to his sister. He has no interest in the new life that Ceana envisioned. He only wants his old life back.
Personality:
They say time heals all wounds, and while Kiniel will never stop missing his sister, he refuses to let his grief and anger rule his life. That being the case, Kiniel can be rather likable if you get to know him. He tries to find something to smile about every day, even during the hard times, because that's how he and his sister always used to get by when things were tight. On the other hand, to a stranger Kiniel can often come off as cold and cynical, as he learned a while back that giving your trust away to someone can be extremely dangerous. Despite this, though, he wants to trust people, and occasionally his naivite can win over and get him into trouble, though it's never been anything he couldn't outrun.
Shortly before he died, Kiniel's father, in a rare, lucid moment, told his son about Dr. Frey and the rabbit's dream for unity. Kiniel always took this message to heart, and tries to be very open minded when dealing with other species. The one exception is his inherent distrust of rats, which has existed ever since a rat "businessman" ripped him and Ceana off and stole a relatively large sum of money. He can't stand the governments favoritism towards purebreads, as he believes that nothing is worth sacrificing your own identity, even "peace."
In short, he's as nice to you are you are to him, and he at least makes a genuine attempt to be happy, which, he believes, is really all you can d
Weapons/Equipment:
