"Hullo, Comrade! Off to the public transport? I hear ya! I don't have a personal aerodyne yet, myself. Ah well, we can dream, can't we? I'll save up for something a little sporty; how about you?"

Character Name: Kija Harker

Age: 20 (Sept. 23rd, 11 ECE)

Sex: Male

Species: Gray Fox / Ring-Tailed Lemur

Height/Weight: 5'6", 160lbs

Social Status: UniClass

Physical Description: Kija is fairly short, with a muscular build attained from his months of Ministry training. He has no hair, but slightly longer fur that falls into his face. His fur is long at the neck like a lemur's, providing good insulation against the chill winds of Einheidt. Although he once aimed to look as much as his perception of a classic pilot as possible, donning a leather, fur-collared jacket and faded jeans, as well as a pair of goggles, he has discarded these garments as the poser items that they are in favor of sleeker casual wear. He tends to wear shirts that conform to his new musculature, often with useful pockets or attachments, and loose pants with the same. He prefers boots that allow his feet to breathe, though on days where he must make trips outside the Toride, he uses a pair with the toe section intact. No longer feeling the need to adorn himself, he aims to look presentable without pomp. Kija now wears a fingerless glove to which he attaches a multipurpose palm-pilot of sorts.

Though he doesn't hold himself as jauntily as he once did, the young hybrid's startlingly orange eyes still twinkle. His open-mouthed grin is replaced with a no less warm smile, the Ministry training having taught him much to help him mature and to see more clearly the goal of Unity. The bounce in his step continues to ferry him effortlessly through the Toride.

Background: Kija is not naturally a hybrid of UniClass standards. His mother was a gray fox and his father also a gray fox, with some canine of the mutt variety in him. This match was too close to produce a hybrid eligible for UniClass citizenship, and Kija grew up knowing this. Ironically, his mother's sister mated with a different species and Kija's cousins were taken to live in the Toride. This did not inspire as much horror as it did a feeling of jealously that the young fox could not feel entirely guilty about.

Unwilling to abandon his mother and father, he never voiced his desire to live in Toride. However, his parents separated when he was 15; their already poor financial situation crashed and brought their relationship with it. His mother left him with his father and the two males fended for themselves. Kija was aware that his life was only another of the stories typical to the Outer Class, but his dreams were bigger than himself. When he let out at 19 that he had been pursuing an increasingly shady education in piloting and machinery over the past years because he could not formally learn the art of flight, his father finally suggested Kija try to undergo artificial hybridization before he crossed the line into illegality or syndicate territory.

Snapping up the excuse and opportunity, attempting to crush his guilt with the frustration at his ruined family life, Kija applied for genetic re-organization and made it through the tests. His eagerness to become a hybrid left no need nor desire to lie, and his DNA was mixed with a ring-tailed lemur.

Not that he remembers any of the events leading up to where he is now. In fact, though his enthusiasm for flight has persisted, as has his bright-eyed stance towards Unity (likely a carefully-chosen product of his initiation into the Uniclass), he soon sought out the path of a Minister. Its beginnings were with the Minister Agni Vasudev, who gave Kija a contact in a air-freight company. Soon after, Kija arranged with the Minister Vasya Besjavel to meet the old Ministry pilot Kislev. This inspirational meeting set Kija on the path to true mastery of flight-- that of a Ministry pilot. Setting off soon after to begin his training in the Nightlands (the hybrid had no trouble convincing the recruiting officer to allow him), he has returned as a new Minister ready to begin his duties and his pilot training.

Personality: Since returning from Ministry training, Kija can only be called "more subdued" if you consider his previously exuberant personality. To the onlooker, he continues to carry himself with enthusiasm and an endearing air that is not so much charisma as his continued air of being new to the Toride despite having leapt so quickly into the Ministry. He had been more keen on appearing tough or cool prior to his training, but afterwards he seems more comfortable with himself in an assured way that suits his open-looking face.

Despite his slightly more serious (and less fanboyish) take on Unity, Kija continues to seem oddly innocent. No great change has visibly swept him, leaving him gritty and experienced. True, he seems confident and competent, but if there were any dramatic changes, he keeps them safely behind his bright eyes. To his fellow hybrids he seems helpful and big brotherly (or even little-brotherly), cheerful and awkward in his own way. Despite his new muscle and abilities, he can still seem a bit socially clumsy, something that endears him to some and exasperate others.

However, Kija's resentment of Uniclassers has doubtlessly increased. Though lacking ruthlessness, and possibly because he knows of his own roots and is ashamed of them, he views the Outerclassers with a distaste fed by his own wish to forget that he was begat from a pair of them. Whereas he would be relatively cordial to Outerclassers prior to training, in the days of extreme innocence to the hybrid mentality, he now cannot find it within himself to do so.

Weapons/Equipment:

For the time being, Kija carries only the weapons and equipment available to a normal civilian and the basic gear assigned to low Ministers.
