"Life goes on, for somebody at least! Sure hope it's me!"
Player: Dexh
Character Name: Jeremy Haven
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Species: Long-tailed Weasel
Height/Weight: 5'1" 100lb
Social Status: Outer Class
Physical Description:
Jeremy is a very standard Outer Class mustelid. He has the small size; awkward, long bodied yet short limbed build; long whiskers; and especially long black tipped tail of his species. His fur is locked in a thick, white winter coat, though few would believe it due to a near constant coating of dirt and grime. Beyond the white of his fur and the black of his nose, tail, and paws, his body's only color is a pale brown in his eyes.
The young weasel is most easily distinguished by his signature coat, safety goggles, and tool bag. They're worn almost constantly, and all are mementoes from his past.
The coat is a heavy, faded blue garment that's several sizes too big and covered by various exterior and interior pockets. Jeremy can only wear it because he straps it on at the wrists and waist, creating the appearance that there's significantly more fabric than weasel. There probably is.
Both goggles and tools are carried for work and have seen a great deal of use, but they are carefully kept in good condition. The goggles are pushed up onto his forehead, and the tools are kept in a tightly strapped bag on his hip.
The rest of Jeremy's outfit is typical. He wears simple fingerless gloves, carpenter jeans, and a pair of heavily worn boots. Narrowly visible underneath his coat, he also wears a light, low-grade body armor. Often, he carries an extra bag over his shoulder that is filled with various scraps and supplies.
He has an arcing, cauterized scar along along the outside of his left forearm. It runs the entire length and is most noticeable near the elbow where the fur is missing.
Although far from strong, Jeremy keeps up a level of physical training. What minute levels of definition he does have are obscured by fur and hidden by coat.
Background Info:
Born 13 ECE in the Midcity, amidst the Species Wars and the rise of Unity, Jeremy had a pleasant childhood. His parents were hardworking: his father a mercenary and his mother an engineer. Even as purebred quality of life began to decline, their family remained comfortably average. During these early years, Jeremy received a basic education, haphazard combat training from his father, and the start of his love for engineering from his mother.
Jeremy's pleasant life was shattered after nine years. On an average night, his father was gunned down in the city streets at random. Jeremy's mother discovered the body and displayed a pragmatic though very morbid wisdom: she fetched her nine year old son and commanded him to collect the valuables from the body. It took the young mustelid over an hour, first to comprehend, then to beg, and finally to collect.
After the death, Jeremy and his mother spent less time at their home and more at his mother's work, a Midcity repair shop. Supported by his mother and immersed in his interests, Jeremy bounced back from his father's death. During this time, he began to formally learn engineering, starting with small tasks and moving quickly into full work despite his youth.
Jeremy's life was shattered again after another few years. On another average night, his mother failed to return from working in the city. The very next night, Jeremy himself failed to come into work. Their employer wrote them both off as lost and was appropriately shocked when Jeremy returned several nights later with many of his mother's belongings. The young weasel didn't speak a word; instead, he got right back to work.
Even if his mother's death had an impact, Jeremy didn't show it. His next few years were about the same, though much more lonely. The mustelid devoted most of his time to work, plus a rough combat training based on what his father taught years ago.
Jeremy took over his mothers engineering position, which included heading out to work on location. He was on such a trip in 29 ECE when the crushing Colonial missile strike was launched. Although where Jeremy was working was only lightly struck, panic reigned. As much as he wanted to get back to his own neighborhood, he was pinned down and forced into hiding for several agonizing nights. When he finally made it back, he found the entire area -- his home, his work, and most everything he knew -- leveled.
Since then, Jeremy's been living on his own on the city streets. He works first as a scrap dealer, aided by his compulsion to pick up nearly anything, and second as a mechanic, whenever he can find safe-enough looking work. Every so often, he'll make a visit to a derelict building at the outer edge of the Mids where he hides away anything that's either too heavy or too worthless to carry.
Over time, Jeremy's experienced a little bit of everything: joining and leaving a motorcycle gang, helping the needy in sworn secrecy, losing a lover at the hands of a friend, and the mind-bending happenings of the Undercity. The little weasel's come through it all, seemingly unscathed though that is very much impossible.
Personality Description:
Jeremy's an odd mixture of survivor and youth. Because of his mother's guidance, he tries to put on a cold pragmaticism, to be distant and disinterested in others, but because of loss after loss after loss, he desperately looks for and clings to anyone who might be called a friend.
Although survival instinct leads him to avoid hybrids, Jeremy has no feelings against them. He takes a simple view and considers them much like his fellow purebreds.
Jeremy's youth is most often visible in his compulsion to collect scraps. He has a keen eye, spotting what would be useful at a glance, yet he is driven to pick up everything. Most of the time, his pockets and bags are filled with remnants that would disappoint even the most desperate scrap hunters, but he saves it all for a half-hearted dream, to take something from every part of the city and make it into something wonderful.
Weapons/Equipment:
Set of quality tools - Inherited from his previous employer. They are kept in a bag on his hip, tightly bound and keenly guarded for fear of thieves.
Pry bar - Part of his tool set, it's been repeatedly weaponized after he lost his switchblade.
Light body armor - Low grade, effective against small arms fire and slashing. It is worn under his coat, barely visible.
