Physical Description: Tall and strong, not overly muscular but defined and toned, Jaru has the look and poised balance of a wrestler or a surfer. Her normal attire consists of various cast-off bits from others, though she can often be seen wearing a tank-top and short-pants combination with a military-style parka for warmth. She goes barefoot or, if protection is necessary, clad in worn sandals that lace up her lower leg.
Mostly black in color, her markings vary from rich, coppery rust-red to cream to splashes of white on her face, and it is obvious in looking at her that her basic form favors the skunk part of her lineage; her ears are a bit more pointed than a skunk, giving her an alert look, and her intelligent blue eyes miss little as they constantly take stock of her surroundings. Her hair is teased into dredlocks, and some of the longer ones which fall past her shoulders have bits of brightly-colored fabric woven into them. Here and there her dreds glint as bits of glass, metal, and beads catch the light.
She carries a large satchel stitched together from some sort of animal leather and odd canvas scraps. She is quite protective of it and will fight to protect its contents, as they are both her means of survival and her livelihood.

Background: Jaru is not considered to be hybrid enough to become a member of the UniClass. She has considered artificial hybridization in the past, but as she has aged she has come to love her rough-and-tumble life that takes her throughout the Undercity and the freedom that it brings. She makes occasional forays into the Midcity for supplies and to barter certain items she's acquired in her travels, but for the most part she is a denizen of the underworld.
She wanders from place to place, playing the role of a junk salesman, bartering and selling the items that she finds lying in back-alleys (and some gained, it is said, through more-subtle and less-legal means) to a rough circuit of families and individuals.

Personality: Jaru is quite content to be her own company. However, she is very socially adaptable, able to fit in easily with any group or person she happens to be around; this stems from her powers of observation, which are acute. She is able to pick up on behaviors and attitudes, both conscious and unconscious, and is able to use this trait to her advantage in the business realm.


Weapons/Equipment: a Shashka, about whose origins Jaru is tight-lipped. She carries it in a crude halter attached to a belt looped over one shoulder; typically hidden behind her back and under her parka/satchel.
