“Nonsense! Especially when there is something there which neither of us can see, we must keep our eyes open!”
Player: Rogue_Beetle
Character Name: Dillon Swartz
Age: 53 or 54
Sex: male
Species: weasel
Height/Weight: 5'10'' and 160 lbs
Social Status: Outer Class
Physical Description: He appears to be an old and slender ferret with darkish grey fur all along his head, back and limbs and white fur along his throat and front-side. There is silvery fuzz at the top of his head and a ways down his nape. All of his fur is cropped close to the skin. His eyes are light-brown, and his facial features are homely. His posture is often stooped, but he can force himself to straiten. There is a small and hardly noticeable scar at the right side of his jaw, and another one along his forearm. He often wears thick, heavy coats along with scarves, gloves, and winter caps; sometimes even while indoors. Other than that, he dons typical, mostly worn clothes.
Background: Swartz lives by himself, in a small, rundown but comfortable shack in MidCity. Ever since an automobile accident which he was involved in three years ago, he has had amnesia. He does not recall anything that has occurred before the incident (nor the incident itself) but he has collected enough evidence to become fairly acquainted with his city and his current circumstances. Apparently he had been impoverished for a long while, even prior to the incident. He is (or was) married and has a son with whom he shares his name, and his son also has children. However he doesn’t know for sure what had become of them or their whereabouts. There are hardly any clues that tell him much about himself either. Periodically he would ‘recall’ various details or events which would fill in the gaps. However, he cannot rely on these ‘false memories,’ as most of them blatantly contradict each other.
Shortly after the incident he had contracted a chronic illness which he now takes treatment for; his ailing would rise and ebb as time passes. Fortunately he knows enough that he can earn a menial but steady living so that he can support himself. He currently works at a warehouse, keeping inventory. He would like to apply to become UniClass, and perhaps have his illness cured and live out the rest of his life peacefully. However, some sort of inexplicable anxiety is keeping him from doing so. He thinks that perhaps he is unsure of how the procedure might affect him; he has heard rumors of the various adverse effects on ones mind and health, many of which he doesn’t accept as plausible. He does not want to believe that some unknown, unreasonable fear rooted deep within him is keeping him from pursuing happiness. As such, he is resigned to live out his life as best as he can and to observe those around him, and perhaps determine for sure the truth that might sate his anxiety.
Personality: Swartz’ stubbornness lends to his being a generally non-agreeable person at times. He is openly suspicious of strange-seeming people and jealous of those who are better of than he is. The anxiety that he feels towards his fellow purebreds, more so than the hard times, makes him a bitter person. However, although he doesn’t show it, he is a devout believer of the Ministry’s doctrine on Unity, and he believes that there is a better quality of existence out there for him because of the Ministry’s presence. To him, this is reason enough to hold on to hope.
He has a sharp mind. Having had to piece together much of the fragments of his life mostly on his own, he has developed a good memory and become very methodical. He knows how to be accommodating, if only to suit his own needs. He is a bit superstitious, although at the same time he doesn’t tolerate superstitious and irrational behavior. As such, he has developed a way of thinking which stress that ‘there is a reason for every thing that happens.
Weapons/Equipment: He keeps a pocket knife on him sometimes for protection, although he's never had to use it. He also likes to keep a notepad and pen with him--one never knows when those can come in handy. Finally, there's his medication, which he has to keep with him.
