Character Name: Damian Rylokov
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Species: Frilled necked lizard
Height & Weight: 6'2” Average build
Social Status: Outer Class
Physical Description:
With sharp, observant blue eyes, Damian is a reptile that makes a point not to stand out among other Outerclassers. His facial scales are a dark blackish-grey, with small singular spots of red scales on the underside of his jaw, leading to the orange and black frill that covers his neck. In contrast to his face, the interior of his mouth is white, and his torso, legs and tail are a dark tan-brown with darker shades around his hands and feet. He’s often seen wearing his trench coat and gear and a black cigarette hanging from his lips. It isn’t very often you catch this Frilled lizard without his coat or gear-vest on, if you happened to do so, there are some features about him one might otherwise miss. The back of his forearms, shoulders, torso, legs and tailbase are a steely grey and black, these scarred, mismatched patches of flesh the leftovers of the cadaver skin grafts that were donated to him from his father.
Background:
Damian’s life began outside in the colonies during the Species Wars, but nearly ended outside of Einheit City’s gates. His Family’s Clan, sought to escape the escalating violence between the different species and colonies, and migrate to Einheit City, a place where things were supposed to be different, and all species equal. The journey to Einheit was as dangerous as the fighting that raged between the colonies, with raiders, nightlanders Snowrunners and others all looking to attack the group of reptiles as they traveled. But they did make it to the City, loosing many of their group in the process, including Damian’s mother, who was eaten by a massive Ice Wyrm along with several others. The group was brought into the city, Damian and his father moved into a small hole in the wall in the Midcity, and thought things would turn out alright. Damian’s father even encouraged him to try to apply for artificial hybridization to get into the Uniclass & Toride, but all interest in getting into the Uniclass would soon be dropped.
Unfortunately for Damian and his father, they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as they found themselves in a section of the Midcity claimed by a Coyote canine supremacist gang looking to keep their territory clear of ‘Rotten slith”. Rather than kill them outright, the coyote gang overpowered Damian and his father, tying them up behind a hoverdyne, and proceeded to drag them though the street to the edge of their Turf. After speeding though the litter-strew street, the coyote-gang cut the ropes to dump the two reptiles in an empty alleyway, warning that they would be killed the next time they step in the neighborhood. Despite being dragged by his arms and suffering some severe abrasions, Damian was still conscious, unlike his father who was dragged by his heels, and hit his head on a rock. Gathering up what strength he had, Damian was able to get himself up and carry himself and his father to a dilapidated Midcity Hospital. While there, the hospital attendants were able to bandage and temporally stem the bleeding. His father however wasn’t so lucky, with a serious head injury was in critical condition, and would later die on the operating table. Not wanting the dead reptile to go to waste, the medical personnel used the cadaver tissue to make skin grafts for Damian’s abrasions and tissue damage.
Eventually, Damian was able to leave the hospital, now that his physical scars were healing, and made several attempts to report the incident to the Ministry, only to have his calls not returned and the reports not followed up on. It had become apparent to Damian that the Ministry wasn’t interested in dealing with anti-reptile violence, only in protecting the hybrids of the Uniclass. Now that he had no interest in getting to the Uniclass, and only way Damian saw he could manage now was to take over his father’s motorcycle shop, next to the industrial sector of Midcity. Damian works building and fixing motorcycles. His shop is not large at all, with space to maybe work on four bikes if he’s lucky. Damian makes due with the space he has, his living quarters under the garage of his shop. He manages to get by, and when he’s done for the day, he can sometimes be found at the billiards table at a bar, looking to make a little extra money to pay for his food and drink.
Personality:
Hard working and determined, Damian strives to keep himself afloat even in the worst of times. Despite his cold, self-centered nature, he is not unwilling to help others or take risks when needed. He is cautious, calculating and cynical of the Ministry, the Uniclass and the different groups that thrive in the Midscity and Undercity. It is that critical, watchful eye that has helped keep Damian out of serious trouble, but as we all know, trouble eventually finds us all, whether we like it to or not. Damian would like to think that he is prepared for when it finds him.
Weapons/Equipment:
Gasmask, gloves, IR-goggles. Pool cue in leather case, Metal Cigarette case, Zippo style lighter.
Black Trench-coat with heat-reflective/retaining material that helps fend against cold. Many pockets on inside to keep small useful items in, including a pair of heat packs, flares and light sticks.
Armored gear-vest, covers his torso, neck and sides, good against knives, not so good against small arms fire, back has sheath for Kukri dagger.
Belt with Fairbairn-Sykes style knife in holder and clip for Spray gun.
Wrist-guards, one holding concealed T-handle Skinner knife
Thermal spray gun. Keeps concealed under trenchcoat. Like a cross between a blowtorch and a gas gun, Damian has modified this shop tool to be an effective weapon against others, Propelled by a flammable gas cartridge, it sprays and ignites a combustible powder at the target.
Black-rat motorcycle, Ugly as hell, but cheap, easy to fix and can get him across the midcity when he needs to.
Misc Info:
His shop and tools are protected by a Robot that he had found broken in the basement of an abandoned factory. With it’s lower half missing, and part of it’s rodent-like head crushed, Damian has chained it up to a ceiling track where it can watch and wait to fall and grab anyone that might break in. It isn’t very smart, and referred to as ‘GT’
His father’s cremated remains are kept in a locked metal box, the skull is still intact.
Likes to collect knives and tools when he finds them
