Physical description:

A natural survivor, Corvin's frame was built to stand up to punishment. Standing six foot one, his body is fairly toned under his leathered pelt. That very pelt, a muted black with the odd grey tufts under his muzzle, cheeks and brow, is kept moderately short under his clothing. While his pelt is short cut, his age grants him the dignity to sport a slightly longer fur upon his head and muzzle. His digitigrade feet and weathered hands also share a slightly greyer fur than usual.

His eyes, having lost them to shrapnel from an IED explosion during the Species Wars, have been replaced with small bionic oculus units that rest just under his brow and outside his orbital bones. These units have since been replaced after an unfortunate incident involving a pair of tesla gloves, now upgraded to a more advanced, shock-resistant model. The inner workings of the ocular units are inside where his eyes would normally be, but on the orbital bone they appear as semi-flat discs, with two micro screw ports connect them to his skull. His fur around his eyes is greyed from the damage left from the shrapnel, scarring only visible on closer examination.

As a protective underskin, he wears a short sleeve and leg bodysuit of flexible plasteel-cermite fibers, capable of stopping small-arms fire and small blade penetration. A parting gift from his days in the Wintertide Navy, it's kept fairly well hidden under his clothing.

His usual attire is quite weathered, having spent a majority of his time roaming through the Midcity and Undercity. A pair of black, heavy weave pants keep his legs warm while his ankles and feet are wrapped in a highly protective weave of silken-kevlar, mostly due to the dangers of combat and travel. A small line of pouches line his lower back, in which he carries whatever medicines and supplies he can find.

His upper body is slightly more intricate, wearing a medium weave, dark red long sleeve shirt which he rolls up from time to time. Overtop, he wears a charcoal-toned collared overcoat, zipping up off center on the left under a flap and finally clasping just under his collar bone. The coat's length is slightly interesting as it stops just below the knee; however, the length only covers his right thigh around to his right buttock, being waist length from the left buttock to thigh. The left thigh is usually left open for his sidearm holster and clips whenever they're needed. With the advent of his new occupation, he sports a ballistic jacket underneath his overcoat, which is now left open. On the collar of his overcoat are two pins representing his old Lieutenant-Commander rank within the Wintertide navy, proudly displaying them once again.

Background:

A veteran of the Species Wars, Corvin was born 12 B-ECE (or Before Einheit City Era) aboard the Wintertide Strike Cruiser 'Howling Wind'. He was born into a military family, the nature of which meant that they went from province to province, having no permanent residence in which to make friends, aside from the few children and fellow officers onboard. His father, being the chief tactical officer, desired his son's future to be by his side on the Howling Wind, and so it was only natural that, upon arriving at Port Wintertide, he was enrolled at Swift Naval Academy. He graduated Swift with proficiencies in Marksmanship, Tactics and Survival in 4 ECE; however he was assigned to the skyship Frigate 'Grey Fang' as a Shipboard Marine. His service aboard the Howling Wind would have to wait.

Port Wintertide was a wolven colony within to the Kerberos Fedration, a joining of three nations that served to protect its sovereignty and repel their mutual enemies. This particular colony was a port-city that served as both a rearming and resupplying point, as well as the central production facility for the Kerberos Federation's fleet. While the Howling Wind was reassigned as a Port Guard vessel, the Grey Fang was commissioned to assist in patrols along the Tel'Vzir-Wintertide border.

It was barely a year later that news of Dr Frey's colony reached the world, and even more shockingly his assassination on the vid-com. The Heart Machine became a highly sought-after prize in the coming years; however Port Wintertide's only concern became the defense of its people and its duty to the fleets. They were an independent people, believing in each citizen's choice to carve out their own path. It was only natural that hybrid families began to surface amongst their province.

Corvin became a rather adept soldier, fending off boarding actions and making tactical assaults against aggressor nations, notably the S'jeti Nation, Kemetis Sultanate and Monte Vercellizieux Colonies. Regrettably, one such assault involved an IED placed in advance of their unit. The explosion took his eyes, but they were quickly replaced with IC-12 bionic implants. By 24 ECE, his exceptional tactical expertise and covert assault capabilities let him rise to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, serving as the chief tactical officer aboard the Assault Cruiser Vestri's Call."

In 27 ECE, the report of a major assault on Port Wintertide reached the Vestri's Call. While the assault was repelled, it was not without casualty: two Assault Frigates, one Fang Carrier and one Strike Cruiser. The Howling Wind, valiantly sinking nearly half of the aggressor capital ships, finally succumbed to withering fire. Her fusion core breached in the final moments of the battle. For masterful tactical maneuvers and the stalwart defense of the Pack, Haubun Redd was posthumously promoted to Captain. Father and mother, friends and family died aboard the vessel, leaving Corvin as the only surviving member of his family.

Word of her demise and the loss of his parents struck him hard. As per Navy guidelines for serving families, Corvin was allowed leave of the Navy and, in 27 ECE, was honorably discharged for exemplary service abroad.

Heartbroken, he could take no more of war. Hearing of peace and refuge within Einheit, the old wolf travelled with a caravan of exiled Wintertidians for what he believed was a place to heal. In 29 ECE, Operation Boreas would wipe out all the purebred colonies, including the The Kerberos Federation, and his home of Wintertide.

For a time he would wander the city before settling in an apartment, working jobs as a mercenary to keep himself busy. He would make new friends, and lose several others before coming across Ailsa "Thistle" MacCanna, a firebrand of a Faolan. Through the training he offered her, and the reminder of who he was, the two would eventually track down the survivors of their people in Howling Moon Market. It was here, through both the persuasion of old allies and the work of a common goal, that they would form The Umbranine and Corvin Redd would become their Commander.

Personality:

Corvin Redd was a troubled soul searching for peace. He had no quarrel with Outer or Uniclass citizens and for a time kept to himself, spare for what few true friends he came across along the way. With Ailsa MacCanna and Bishop Thaine at his side, he has since become a more resolved, empowered individual that strives to better the lives of the people he commands. His mind is remarkably sharp for a man of his age. His tactical prowess and naval training make him a venerable and worthy combatant, while his survival abilities allow him to keep out of harm's way and stay hidden in the most extreme situations. As a Commander, there are few purebreds on the field of battle that can rival his craft. On the inside he can be likened to a soft-hearted individual at times, displaying a subtle fatherly nature towards both his friends and his people. On the outside, however, his gruff and commanding tone is enough to make even the most advantageous thief or swindler second guess their mark.

Misc Info:

Umbranine Commander, Leader of the Wintertide. Corvin is no fool and will not carry any firearms or illegal weaponry into Midcity or anywhere that's heavily patrolled. In most circumstances it is well hidden until needed. With his naval training and experience, he is very capable in hand to hand combat, improvising with whatever tool he can get. He is also known to be a southpaw with pistols when absolute precision is required.

Weapons and equipment:

PF-5 Modular Pistol — Standard issue semi-automatic pistol of the Wintertide Navy, it carries 12 rounds for semi-automatic fire. It's usually kept hidden at home with his thigh holster and spare clips.

WN-2000 Bullpup Rifle — A compact bullpup rifle acquired during a chance meeting with the Baraknak Syndicate. A 'token' of their gratitude for helping to repel a slith assault within their market. 40 round magazine with safe-single-triple firing settings.

Canine — Wintertide issue, this knife is designed as an extension of the users arm. Chiefly used as a combat knife, it is kept on his right thigh hidden under his coat.

Rebreather — Acts as an over the muzzle air heater for extremely cold nights, it can be used to protect against malignent elements in the air for a short time.

PDA and Microcable — Mostly to record his thoughts and journals.
